This website provides content and information of a general nature about the different Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery procedures available in medicine, in order to improve cosmetic and functional problems of the human body.
Plastic Surgery has
two functions:
Primarily, RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY, which includes Microsurgery, the purpose of which is to hide and to reconstruct the destructive effects of an accident or trauma, with techniques of osteosynthesis, transfer of tissue using grafts from other parts of the healthy body to the affected areas. And secondly, COSMETIC SURGERY, the purpose of which is to change those parts of the body that the patient finds unsatisfactory and wishes to improve.
The difference between Cosmetic Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery is at times undefinable as many Cosmetic Surgical procedures resolve a pathology which affects function and other Plastic Reconstructive procedures substantially improve the aesthetic of a patient.
